Always great to read your insights on the market's protracted emergence. You mention that offsetting is a likely necessity if credits sale are to scale upwards in the future, and that the threat of greenwashing looms persistently over the entire conversation of nature crediting. Isn't there a link between the two? Given what we understand about the importance of habitat connectivity, and the difficulties of quantifying/equating spatially distinct habitats (even ones with seemingly comparable species compositions and functions), wouldn't the promise of offsetting biodiversity loss in one habitat via credits sales on a habitat elsewhere open the door for corporate greenwashing?
